Kali Puja night in Kolkata

Dakshineswar and Kalighat draw very large crowds from evening until after midnight. Go in the early evening for a shorter queue. Roads around Kalighat narrow quickly, so the driver drops you at the nearest open point and waits.

Barasat is known for large theme pandals on Kali Puja, and Naihati for its tall Boro Maa idol. Both are on the northern side, so a pickup from Salt Lake, New Town, Dum Dum or Barrackpore saves time.

Tarapith on Kali Puja

Tarapith, about 230 km from Kolkata, is one of Bengal's most visited Shakti Peethas and is very busy on Kali Puja night. Plan an overnight trip, leave Kolkata early, and book a hotel in advance. A round-trip cab keeps the car with you for the return.

Diwali travel and Bhai Phonta

Diwali week is also when people travel home or visit relatives. On Bhai Phonta, a 4- or 8-hour car with a driver lets a family cover several homes without booking separate rides. Airport and railway transfers are busy all week, so book them in advance.

  • Kolkata airport transfers
  • Howrah and Sealdah station pickups
  • Outstation one-way and round trips
